Guided small-group adventures in Western Vesterålen
A life lived outdoors
Way North grew from a simple idea: to share the western edge of Vesterålen through the places, seasons and experiences that shape my life here.
Every day outdoors is different. The weather changes, the light shifts, and every season brings something new. Rather than following a fixed itinerary, each experience is guided by the conditions, the landscape and the people sharing it.
Whether we're paddling beneath the midnight sun, searching through forests for berries and mushrooms, climbing mountain summits or crossing frozen lakes beneath the northern lights, staying in tune with nature sometimes means embracing a challenge. In my experience, it's those moments that become the best stories—shared around the dinner table for years to come.
If you’re curious about exploring western Vesterålen this way, I’d love to share it with you.
Time well spent
Some places start to show themselves in half a day.
Many deserve a little longer.
Whether you join for half a day or several days, every experience is designed to give you time.
Time to explore, time to laugh, and time to enjoy the journey.
Join me
On most days you'll find me outside. That might mean wandering through my local birch forests with my dog, or jumping into my kayak on the outer coast after a storm to enjoy getting humbled by some big waves. To put it simply, I believe that time spent outdoors is never wasted.
For more than a decade I've been fortunate enough to share that passion with others, both here in Norway and further south in Europe. I only hope that my passion and enthusiasm for the outdoors, and life in general, leaves people feeling even more excited to get outside, explore a little further and discover places they may never have found on their own.
I now call Bø i Vesterålen home, together with my wife and dog, and this is where Way North is based. I want to share this amazing, still wonderfully quiet and relatively unknown corner of northern Norway with people who are curious enough to embrace its spectacular, often wild and rugged nature.
If you've never been kayaking, wandered away from a marked trail or strapped on a pair of snowshoes, it doesn't matter. All you need is a little curiosity and a willingness to see the place I call home from a different perspective. If that sounds like you, I'd love for you to join me.
If you do, we'll probably get wet from time to time, feel the cold, and almost certainly spend some time battling the ever-present wind. But whatever the weather brings, we'll also share good conversations, plenty of laughter, new knowledge and, I hope, memories that stay with you long after you've gone home.
